Often, ancient historic buildings must undergo violent lighting which inevitably transforms the architectural structure by flattening every form or “from bottom to top” which spectrally emphasizes only some details, leaving everything else in darkness, or dedicated only to the works of art. ‘art.
Artificial lighting constitutes an important design element aimed at visual well-being and the structural qualification of artistic assets.
XLITE was chosen to carry out the relamping of the Church of San Francesco del Prato, the client and the Arch. Della Longa, following the long and meticulously carried out restoration, wanted to give a strong evocative charge to the lighting project too. Our challenge was to integrate modern LED technology and the most advanced optical solutions to the architectural needs required by the project.
The San Francesco del Prato project has been carefully studied to be able to provide correct lighting for any event or celebration.
The lighting of the apse area occurs via a corona pharalis, equipped with LED sources with optics specifically designed for this use. Its central position allows excellent lighting of the alabaster altar located below and of the finely frescoed vault that dominates above it. Metallic and reflective, the crown dematerializes, reproducing warm shapes and colors present in the environment. The light source guarantees excellent lighting comfort both during liturgical celebrations and during concerts and conferences. Thanks to the crown, the altar itself becomes a source of light that attracts the faithful.

Thanks to the possibility of varying the light intensity of the different sources, the crown is able to transform the environment that surrounds it: a more intense light elevates the altar on the occasion of liturgical celebrations, while a softer light is suitable for moments of personal reflection.
